### CLI Tool Built (v0.1.0)
**Location:** `packages/mobile-ui/cli/`
**Commands:**
-`list` - Show all components with install status
-`add <component>` - Copy component with automatic dependency resolution
**Features:**
-**Automatic dependency resolution** - Recursively installs all dependencies
-**Conflict detection** - Asks before overwriting existing components
-**Skip installed** - Doesn't reinstall already-present dependencies
-**Beautiful UI** - Colors, spinners, prompts for great UX
-**Path auto-detection** - Finds components/ directory automatically
-**Full TypeScript** - Type-safe implementation
**Technical Stack:**
- TypeScript 5.3
- Commander 11.1 (CLI framework)
- Chalk 4.1 (terminal colors)
- Ora 5.4 (spinners)
- Prompts 2.4 (interactive prompts)
- fs-extra 11.2 (file operations)
**Example Usage:**
```bash
# List all components
node packages/mobile-ui/cli/bin/cli.js list
# Add a component
node packages/mobile-ui/cli/bin/cli.js add button
# Output:
# ✔ Found component: Button
# ✔ Dependencies: icon, text
# ✔ Installed Icon
# ✔ Installed Text
# ✔ Installed Button
#
# ✅ Success!
# Files added: components/ui/Button/...
# Import: import { Button } from '@/components/ui/Button';
```
### Documentation Created
**Per Component (17 files):**
- `README.md` - Usage examples, props table, variants, common patterns
- `index.ts` - Clean exports
- TypeScript types exported
**Project Level:**
- `README.md` - Main documentation, quick start guide
- `STATUS.md` - Detailed progress tracking
- `CLI.md` - Complete CLI documentation
- `SUMMARY.md` - This file
- `registry.json` - Component metadata with dependencies
**Total Documentation:** ~5000+ lines across 20+ markdown files
### Architecture & Design Decisions
1. **Copy-Paste Approach (shadcn-style)**
- Components are copied into apps, not installed as npm dependencies
- Apps own the code and can customize freely
- No version lock-in, updates are opt-in
2. **No Theme Context**
- Removed all `useTheme()` dependencies
- Hardcoded default colors with override props
- Makes components portable and framework-agnostic
3. **TypeScript First**
- All components fully typed
- Exported types for all props
- Generic support where needed (ToggleGroup, etc.)
4. **Dependency Resolution**
- CLI automatically resolves and installs dependencies
- Prevents missing imports
- Installs in correct order (dependencies first)
5. **Monorepo Structure**
- Embedded in picture app for now
- Can be extracted to separate repo later
- Uses pnpm workspaces
### Testing Completed
**CLI Testing:**
- Tested in `/tmp/test-memoro-ui`
- `list` command shows all 17 components correctly
- `add` command with dependency resolution works perfectly
- Navigation components (Header) tested successfully
- Installed status tracking works
**Component Testing:**
- All components have working implementations
- No TypeScript errors
- All dependencies resolved correctly

## 🎯 What's Next
### Immediate (Phase 4: Testing)
**1. Test in Picture App**
```bash
# From picture app root
node packages/mobile-ui/cli/bin/cli.js add header
node packages/mobile-ui/cli/bin/cli.js add button
# Replace existing implementations
# Test in real screens
# Document issues
```
**Goals:**
- Verify imports work correctly
- Test TypeScript types
- Check functionality on iOS/Android/Web
- Document any edge cases or problems
**2. Real-World Usage**
- Use components in actual features
- Replace old implementations gradually
- Test edge cases
- Performance testing
**3. Document Learnings**
- What works well?
- What needs improvement?
- Missing features?
- Common patterns discovered?
### Short-Term (Phase 4: Extraction)
**4. Test in Second App**
- Pick another memoro project
- Use CLI to add components
- Validate portability
- Ensure components work outside picture app
**5. Extract to Separate Repo**
```bash
# 1. Create github.com/memoro/ui
# 2. Move packages/mobile-ui/ to new repo
# 3. Update all documentation
# 4. Set up GitHub Actions
# 5. Create README with installation instructions
```
**6. Publish to GitHub Packages**
```bash
# Configure package.json
{
"name": "@memoro/ui",
"repository": "https://github.com/memoro/ui",
"publishConfig": {
"registry": "https://npm.pkg.github.com"
}
}
# Publish first version
npm publish
# Then in apps:
npx @memoro/ui add button
```
### Medium-Term (Optional Enhancements)
**7. CLI Improvements** (If Needed)
- `update <component>` - Update with diff view
- `diff <component>` - Show differences
- `init` - Create directory structure
- `remove <component>` - Remove component
**8. More Components** (As Needed)
- Input/TextInput
- Switch/Toggle
- Checkbox
- Modal/Sheet
- Dropdown/Menu
- Avatar
- Divider
- Progress Bar
- Tabs
- Accordion
**9. Tooling** (Nice to Have)
- VSCode extension with snippets
- GitHub Actions for CI/CD
- Automated tests
- Storybook/Preview app
- Screenshot tests
### Long-Term (Phase 2: Design System)
**10. Design Tokens** (If Patterns Emerge)
- Extract common colors/spacing
- Create `@memoro/tailwind-preset` package
- Refactor components to use tokens
- Centralize design decisions
- Theme variants (dark mode, brand colors)
---
## ✅ Success Criteria
### Phase 4 Complete When:
- ✅ Components work perfectly in picture app
- ✅ Components work in second app
- ✅ CLI published to GitHub Packages
- ✅ Documentation is comprehensive
- ✅ No critical bugs
### Overall Success When:
- ✅ Used in 2+ production apps
- ✅ Component reuse rate >60%
- ✅ Time to build features reduced by ~30%
- ✅ UI consistency across all apps
- ✅ Developers love using it
- ✅ Easy onboarding for new developers
---
## 📝 Key Learnings
### What Worked Well:
1. **CLI-first approach** - Having the tool ready made testing easy
2. **Copy-paste philosophy** - No npm dependencies = full control
3. **Comprehensive READMEs** - Examples make adoption easy
4. **TypeScript types** - Catch errors early
5. **Automatic dependencies** - Just works, no manual tracking
### Architecture Strengths:
1. **Portable components** - No theme context = works anywhere
2. **Prop-based customization** - Color props allow flexibility
3. **Dependency resolution** - CLI handles complexity
4. **Monorepo structure** - Easy to develop and test
### Future Considerations:
1. **Theme system** - May need shared theme later
2. **More components** - Input fields, forms, modals
3. **Testing strategy** - Consider automated tests
4. **Preview app** - Might be useful for showcasing
